New Tablet and phone

Hello From BellaCasa!

Well I went for my usual walk today ...a bit nippy and windy, but sunny and bright.  Man it was hard getting back into the routine of working again after the holidays.  Anybody else have that problem this year.  Of course the beautiful weather we are having in January could be a contributing factor.

But I took myself inside to get ready for work ...yep away from this :(

Anyway, an update ...I did get a new phone yesterday as I was talking about doing here.  And I finally decided on a tablet too.  I spent a few hours setting them both up last night and this morning and I'm here to tell you that I am in love with both and it wasn't too painful.  It only took 2 hours to shop, connect, and walk out of the phone store yesterday.

This computer tablet is going to be such a life-saver at home and with work when I travel.  I can't believe I waited so long to decide and buy it.  I've already found so many different ways that it can simplify my life.  Plus it has a Kindle built into it so I don't have to now buy that separately as I was thinking I'd do this year.

And ...the camera on my new phone takes excellent quality photos too so I'll never be without a camera now.  Before I would miss an opportunity to take a shot because I didn't have my large camera with me.

Anyone that knows me knows how much I love gadgets that can actually save me time, money, or entertain me.  I do however take a bit of time deciding on where to spend my money more and more as I grow more mature.  I realize I want less and less stuff, but I don't want to skimp on making the quality of my life more enjoyable whenever possible.  It may take me a lot longer to get there, but I put together a plan and work with it and dicipline myself to get it done.  I enjoy a good challenge and sometimes I have to make a few sacrifices along the way to get me where I want to go.

I think I've put far much too much thought into this post ...I'd better disappear.

I opted for all white

One of the things I started doing this year...

was replacing my colored towels.

A rather simple move, yet one with much positive payback. 

A few years ago, my husband and I made a conscience decision to begin simplifying our lives and down-sizing our home and possessions.  With an empty nest and retirement  looming in the future, it was time.

So we began with the home then followed with the things in our home.

There are still many things on my list to do ...buying white towels is just one of those things I've chosen to do.

Now all towels can be washed together, folded and can go into any bathroom where needed.

Using white towels also means that I can whiten the towels if necessary, with a natural product, if stains need to be removed or they need brightening ...without fear of the color fading.

I'm big on "seeing" my laundry ...um ...actually CLEAN.  There's no hiding stains on white towels.

I also cut back on the number of towels I purchase.  I buy two per person of each set of towels (bath, hand, and washcloth) which includes two per guest.

I also purchased a stack of inexpensive white washcloths.  I place them in a small basket by the sink in the guest bathroom with this note nearby...

This way no one has to worry if their make-up stains the cloths ...which they will.  When the washcloths start to look too stained, I move them to the rag box in the garage.

It might mean that you will need to do laundry a bit more often with fewer towels, but I would rather use what I have instead of store what I don't need.

I own four laundry baskets.  I place two in my guest bath hamper area and two in my masterbath hamper area.  I keep one basket stacked inside the other carring the filled one to the washer leaving the empty one in place to be filled up.

While my guests are staying with us, I take the laundry basket from the guest bath hamper area each morning and fill it with used guest towels.  That way my guests don't have to keep track of who used which towel.  They always have the second set of clean towels available to use while I launder the dirty ones.
