Pillow Talk

Well this gal got the itch to change out the pillow covers to give the living room a little change-up.

The pillows are blue and taupe with buttons.  The blue makes me think of the lake and that's where we spend the majority of our time right now.

It is a pretty big change from what was on the sofa before as you can see here.  I am always amazed at how one thing can make such a difference to the look and feel of a room.  Of course ...one change leads to another and then another for me.  You'll have to wait to see more as it unfolds.

Pillows to change and personalize you home

If there is one thing I love to do around my home ...it is changing out the pillows on my sofa.  With just a few yards of fabric, you can change the mood of a room.  I especially celebrate when I am able to find enough fabric in the remnant aisle to get the job done.

The pillows above where made by my daughter who also created Roman Shades for my windows to coordinate with these pillows.

I am currently on the lookout for fabric for new pillow covers for the Spring/Summer.

I used to buy new pillows whenever I wanted to change the look and feel of the room ...ended up with a closet full of pillows.  Now I shop for fabric instead and have my daughter make the covers I want.  I prefer down-filled inserts ...like the way they contour to the lower back.

I also prefer not having a sofa full of pillows that have to be moved just to be able to sit down ...minimizing.

Making your own pillow covers makes things so much simpler too because:

1. You always buy the same amount of fabric and...
2. pillow covers are easier to store since they take up such little space.

Twigs, twigs, and more twigs

This time of the year the weather is quirky.  One day it is sunny and warm ...next cloudy and cold.  It is just that time of the year :)

I have been working in my SunRoom, off and on ...slowly, doing different  projects.  My current project is setting up the sofa table ...specifically, filling the glass vase on the sofa table with twigs.  While the weather was nice yesterday, I went for a walk to find more twigs to add to my glass vase on the sofa table. 

This is a good time of year to look for twigs too because so many have fallen off the trees.  I had already collected many twigs for this purpose and simply added more to the mix producing three different varieties.

I especially like the "earthy" feel it gives to the room this time of year.  The bare branches echo what is outside this time of year.

I also use these twigs throughout the year for other projects that you'll be able to see here.

Since we painted the chevron accent wall a light color, the twigs really show off nicely.
